This page dedicated to my recent addiction to MV Agusta Motorcycles. I say, recent because out of the blue I purchased a 2004 F4 750 Brutale and imported to Canada before Transport Canada changed the rules in February 2005. The 128HP Brutale has proved and exectionally reliable and high performing motorcycle - the favorite modern bike in my collection. With a redline at 13,200RPM is begs to be ridden in the "hypo" range from 9000-above, where the sounds and feeling of speed exhilerate.
In stark contrast to the F4, I purchased a 1958 MV Agusta 125cc TREL (Tourismo Rapio Extra Lusso) - with a magnificant 6.5HP. This is the sweetheart bike of my collection - oozing the passion of tiddler racing from the 50's. It is not stock, but sports many custom and performance aluminum parts that come together in a most pleasing package.
I attended the 2008 Legends of the Motorcycle at Half Moon Bay in California. With MV and Norton being the designated marques, it was a no-brainer to attend. The 125 placed second in the concourse event in field of around 30 bikes. I even had my moment with Senor Agostini in the early setup hours of the event when he was making his rounds. He kindly signed my tank and we engaged in a few minutes of conversation. Without a doubt he is one of the most pleasant and gracious men I have ever met. He quite liked the little bike.
The Sunday of the event was the group ride to Alice's Restaurant - a 12 mile uphill grind. The downhill run down La Honda Road was the icing on the cake as this little beauty railed around the twisties.
June 2011 is the official start of my MV Classic Race Replica project. I will be blogging progress and photos. The synopsis is simple - build a streetable Classic 1970's MV Racer using a modern MV 750 F4 engine, the rest is old school - wire wheels, 4LS front brake, full fairing and those magnificant MAGNI megaphones. Follow the progress here:
